Takalani G. Musekwa has more than two decades of experience advising organisations on the most consequential leadership issue they face: how executives and employees are paid.

His career spans the public and private sectors, with deep experience across JSE-listed companies, state-owned enterprises, and non-profit organisations. He has served as Group Head of Reward at a JSE-listed company, supported REMCOs as Remuneration Executive, and contributed at board and governance level through roles on ICASA's Remuneration Committee and the UIF Board.

Takalani is a Master Reward Specialist — the highest professional designation awarded by the South African Reward Association — and an Archbishop Tutu Fellow through Oxford University's Saïd Business School. He served on the SARA committee responsible for the guidelines on the implementation of King V and the Companies Amendment Act.

Musekwa Reward Advisory was founded on a single premise: that boards and remuneration committees deserve counsel that is independent, technically rigorous, and accountable to them alone — without the commercial conflicts that compromise advice from larger firms.

Engagement Model

How we work

All client engagements are led and delivered personally by Takalani G. Musekwa. Where engagements require additional analytical or research support, associates are brought in — but the advisory relationship, the thinking, and the deliverables remain his direct responsibility.

Project-based

A defined scope, timeline, and deliverable. Suited to once-off assignments such as incentive design, pay gap analysis, or remuneration policy reviews.

Retainer

Ongoing independent advisory support, typically structured around the remuneration cycle. Suited to boards and REMCOs requiring consistent access to independent counsel.

Hourly

Available for focused advisory sessions, sense-checks, and short-form guidance.
